It’s Luar’s world, and we’re all just living in it — the brand’s FW25 collection showcases what I mean by this.
For FW25, the collection is inspired by derogatory labels and transforms them into positive notions of self-acceptance and self-love.
The collection featured a fuzzy cropped jacket that looked like it had a wild but tamed night out partying. As well as ruched mini-dresses that felt voluminous and tasteful also made an appearance. Followed by moto jackets with batwing sleeves and leather skirts exuding an “it” girl sensibility. Additionally, there were asymmetrical one-shoulder blazers for options with ‘80s power-suiting influence without the staunch, hard feel of traditional styles. Decadent trench coats with a suave, curved neckline and punchy contrasting print sauntered down the runway and screamed “opulence.”
But also, let’s talk about these succulent denim pieces — ala jeans, a skirt and jeans — with an oversized, billowing cut that feels modern and increasingly versatile. Models were seen walking down the runway in contorted wool garments, speaking to the shows them of self-acceptance and the twists and turns we often endure when facing and honoring who we are.
In totality, this collection showcases Luar continuing to push the envelope but doing so within the lane it created. Whether it’s the iconic Ana handbag or its daring outerwear that speaks to Raul Lopez, Luar’s creative director, Dominican heritage, and the bustling culture of New York City, Luar is on the tips of everybody’s tongues because it’s so timeless and chic — two words that are overused but in the case of Lopez, actually stick the landing.
