Review: David Koma SS25

David Koma continues to reach for the skies for SS25.

For the new season, David Koma looked at birds and how they symbolize the ideals of freedom and liberation, reflecting our human desire to transcend limitations. Through his inspirational usage of the avian variety, the collection plays with sensuality through the deliberate Koma brand codes while seamlessly blending undeniable seduction and playful provocation.

The collection featured sheer, delicately draped soft silk mesh dresses alongside feather-adorned numbers for the girl who loves to showcase her body. Moreover, the lace veils and tulle ruffle bustles pieces add a certain whimsicality while exhibiting Koma’s ability to juxtapose ideas seamlessly. Again, the bold metal chain elements added to sweet mini dresses accented with intricate flowers contribute to Koma’s ability to juxtapose hard and soft. Also, knitwear accompanied shimmering crystal-encrusted dresses and twinsets emblazoned with elongated glass sequins and metallic bugles, which are refreshing and demonstrate that knits can be so much more.

What was even more eye-catching was Koma’s homage to hummingbirds and swallows. Known for their poetic essence, both birds inform a collection that celebrates the deeply feminine — light, delicate, and romantic.

Above all, the SS25 collection is about creating a sense of joy and feeling free, and David Koma did just that.
