For her latest live appearance, Jazmine Sullivan brought back a vintage rock hairstyle that has seen a boost in popularity over the last few years, and she did so monochromatically.
The “Pick Up Your Feelings” singer shared a photo on Instagram yesterday that showed Sullivan posing backstage for her performance at the V-103 Winterfest alongside Maxwell in Atlanta last Friday night.
Overall, Sullivan opted to spring for an all-black look that gave her a sleek and edgy flair. Lace was the theme for the night, and she went with a lacy floral printed bodysuit that featured a semi-high neckline and inconspicuous cutouts. Underneath were her black undergarments that unified the outfit, but to top it off, Sullivan popped on a black trench coat that finished off her ‘fit. It had sharp, dramatic shoulders that accentuated her physique and added more depth to her ensemble.
Now, let’s talk about the hairdo that complemented Sullivan’s monochrome attire. She went for an ’80s/early ‘90s staple, the mullet. Sullivan’s interpretation had beautifully placed pieces that created a nice, funky volume and layering effect. It, of course, had a choppy bang and stark jet-black color, which sealed the deal.
Reflective, abstract-shaped earrings made a debut for another layer, and a black belt cinched her waist and tied everything together.
Finally, Sullivan slipped her feet into a pair of black pointy lace-up pumps. The shoes’ black straps wrap around Sullivan’s calves and add another interesting visual element.
When it comes to the Philadelphia native and her sartorial tastes, she tends to gravitate towards edgy and sophisticated garments. Riddled all over her Instagram feed are pictures of her wearing vibrant-colored separates, bodycon items, and ethereal gowns that all reflect her smooth aesthetic.
Jazmine Sullivan is a two-time Grammy-award-winning artist. She has three BET Awards, and she has starred in campaigns for Reebok.
