Rihanna attends the Fashion Awards at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Dec. 02, 2019.

Rihanna Gives Hollywood Glamour in a Black Schiaparelli Gown and Matching Sandals at the 2023 Golden Globes

Rihanna commanded the ballroom of the 2023 Golden Globes when she arrived late with rapper and father of her child, A$AP Rocky, and it’s clear as to why.

The “Lift Me Up” singer was seen on video entering the function while a billowing train followed her. Rihanna wore a black gown by Schiaparelli night that had a ruched bodice and silhouette adorned with accents of velvet. It was strapless and stopped right before the ankle. Speaking of velvet, Rihanna previously mentioned train had a wrap cape that created a cocoon of the lush fabric that followed behind her.

For accessories, Rihanna threw on a pair of black velvet opera gloves that added another layer of sleek sophistication. And she threw in a matching, crystallized Roger Vivier clutch to seal the deal.

Rihanna decided to nail the drama aspect of her attire and went daring with her hair. On top, the Barbados native went with two jet-black buns and an intricately placed tendril plastered on her forehead that completed her moment with a little of her “je ne sais quoi.”

And closing out the ensemble is a pair of strappy black Giuseppe Zanotti sandals that gave her a complete monochromatic color scheme.

The 80th Golden Globe awards debuted at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles last night. The star-studded night featured appearances from stars like Jenna Ortega, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Rihanna, and many more. Angela Bassett won an award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her portrayal of Queen Ramonda in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Comedy or Musical for her role of Evelyn Quan Wang in the box-office hit “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

Among the winners of the night was Eddie Murphy, who received the Cecil B. DeMille Award given by the Hollywood Press for his contributions to the entertainment world. And Ryan Murphy accepted the Carol Burnett Award for his contributions to television on or off screen—it’s during his acceptance speech that Murphy spotlighted Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Blanca Rodriguez of Pose, for being the first transwoman to win a Golden Globe—the crowd gave a standing ovation.
