10 Atlanta Fashion Designers That Should Be on Your Radar

For decades, Atlanta has been known as a cultural hub bursting with talent beneath its surface. From music to food to fashion, this city is a hot spot for the average creative and businessman alike because of its zeal to make anyone want to succeed. Before, Hotlanta’s creatives scene operated in an underground context (no pun intended) — but over the recent years, thanks to the expansion and help of social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, Atlanta fashion designers have charted their course within the industry.

With the invention of events like Atlanta Fashion Week, the city has grown its vigor and hunger for being included in broader fashion conversations — even if people living in these fashionable metropolises beg to differ. No more will Atlanta continue to sit by the wayside and let visitors dictate where our sartorial palette lies and what it encompasses.

Thanks to institutions like the Savannah College of Art and Design, Clark Atlanta University, the University of Georgia and Georgia Southern, the pool of Atlanta fashion designers is getting bigger and more saturated through the years. From brands like Jeofroi, Sandra Lomotey, London Couture and Tiffany Brown, it’s clear that the South — and more specifically — Atlanta, has something to say.

We took it upon ourselves to round up 10 Atlanta fashion designers that should be on your radar. These brands have a clear, unique point of view and exemplify what’s so great about southern fashion — expressionism. Without further ado, read below to see which Atlanta fashion designers made our list.

Graduates of the Savannah College of Art and Design, Jeffrey and Roy, have pioneered their distinct vision and aesthetic within the Atlanta luxury fashion microcosm. Jeofroi, the duo’s demi-couture occasion-wear brand, creates opulent garments that feel like a modern wardrobe interpretation for a Southern belle  — if you know, you know. What I love most about the team is their commitment to made-to-order clothing. From puffy, seemingly Antebellum-esque derived tops to sleek trousers and delectable dresses, Jeofroi is a force that continues to shape the greater fashion conversation of Atlanta.

When it comes to Atlanta’s style and fashion guise, most would agree its aesthetic is all about drama. And if that’s what you’re hunting for, look no further than London Couture. Established in Richmond, VA, in 2015 and then transitioned to Atlanta, the eponymous brand produces clothing synonymous with style, elegance and grace while allowing free expression to take place. Formerly based in NYC, now helmed in Atlanta, M. Diggs NYC, founded by Malcolm Diggs, is a fashion brand that sticks out amongst the noise in the scene. Whether you need a voluminous duster or structured, sharp jumpsuits, M.Diggs has your back. What I love most about the brand is its knack for show-stopping garments that showcase Diggs’ clear point of view.  So far, celebs like Jazmine Sullivan and Victor Jackson have donned the brand — and from the looks of it — it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

What happens when couture meets the set-apart woman? You get JAELL. Pioneered by Jayda Ellis, JAELL has captured the hearts of many — including Tamron Hall — due to its purposeful messaging, vibrant styles and draped silhouettes that display Ellis’ penchant for putting women and their bodies first. The piece that caught my eye is the JAELL Jeans. They’re voluminous and edgy — and it won’t make you overheat. 10/10. Oh, and did I mention that Erica Campbell of THEE gospel chart-topping duo Mary Mary wore one of Ellis’ gowns?
