Tanner Fletcher is known for its genderless silhouettes that continue to move the needle forward pertaining to dressing every body, and their latest collection proves why.
So, do you remember slumber parties from your childhood? The nights when your parents would send you off to your best friend’s house, where you would become their problem on a Friday night and give your parents the break that they deserved. Over the course of the night of debauchery, we devoured snacks, made funny videos, and binged watched our favorite shows until our friends’ parents would gracefully give us back to our rightful recipients. Those feelings of camaraderie, mischief, and youthfulness are felt throughout Tanner Fletcher’s FW23 collection.
Taking influences from 90’s punk and melding them with soft Victorian elements, Tanner Fletcher makes two design aesthetics that shouldn’t work, well, effortlessly.
For instance, a brown and white candy-striped furry coat makes an appearance that harkens to the brash patterns and symbolism used in the 90s but pairs it with this bold silhouette that feels like it can go from drinks on the town with your crew and also serve a seriously elevated moment with paired with intricate suiting.
Corsetry, seemingly popular this upcoming season, makes a strong case for lairing with a floral-printed option and a flouncy white button-down with a high, ruffled neckline. (Also, if you’re a jean fanatic, baggy styles are in, and Tanner Fletcher offers a baggy option with billowing hemlines.)
Some of the other garments Tanner Fletcher offers that’s slumber party ready include velvet ruffled miniskirts, printed fuzzy cardigans, slouchy trousers, darling silk slip dresses, decadent suiting (adorned with ruffles), matching printed sets, and sheer styles that all feel incredibly modern while also harkening back to the extravagance of the prim Victorian era. A sweatshirt stating “bless your heart” feels endearing while also hurling shade that feels like a nice, nasty hug from the south (if you know, you know.)
Speaking on the collection, co-founder Fletcher Kasell speaks on the state of the brand.
“This is my favorite collection to date,” Kasell said. “It’s so reminiscent of a familiar yet distant time. As Tanner and I continue to grow up, we have begun to notice how quickly we float from one chapter in our lives to the next. This collection is a reflection of what we’ve seen, what we long for, and what’s to come.”
The set for the shoot feels cozy but eerily posh and will put you in a mood of nostalgic bliss. So, gather up all of your best gal pals, let your hair down, and throw on your best slumber party duds, courtesy of Tanner Fletcher.
